The faculty members of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Turhan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selin Akyüz presented their paper titled “De-constructing Gender and Re-constructing Europe: Populism and Anti-gender Discourse in Germany” at the international conference titled “9th International Conference on Gender Studies - Tracing Gender: Exploring History and Shaping the Future” held at Eastern Mediterranean University on April 3, 2025.

Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security, met with the students of the Political Science and International Relations Department of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of our University on February 28, 2025. The 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Opening Lecture entitled “The Future of Turkey-Germany Relations in the Age of Uncertainty” was held in the YDYO Conference Hall with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Head of the Political Science and International Relations Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enes Bayraklı, our academicians as well as students.
2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Opening Course

At the workshop on Intergenerational Transmission of Inequalities held on December 2-3, 2024, at Católica-Lisbon, Dr. Guido Neidhöfer, representing the Turkish-German University, delivered a presentation titled "Intergenerational Returns to Migration".

The international conference titled “Navigating Complexity And Change In The Balkans”, hosted by the Turkish-German University in Istanbul on 5-6 December 2024, brought together prominent figures from the academic world.

In the seminar, Dr. Guido Neidhöfer from the Department of Economics gave a presentation titled “Intergenerational returns to migration”. Dr. Hamza Polattimur from the Department of Economics presented his study titled “TV News and Inflation Expectations” to the audience, while Henrik Vogel presented his study titled “The impact of signatures in product marketing”.
Dr. Guido Neidhöfer Organized a Workshop on Wealth Inequality, Intergenerational Mobility, and Equality of Opportunity in Vienna
The event was a collaboration between the Research Institute Economics of Inequality (WU Vienna), the International Inequalities Institute (London School of Economics and Political Science), and ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research. It brought together approximately 40 leading researchers and experts to discuss critical issues surrounding wealth inequality, its measurement, causes, and implications.
Collective Memory and the Continuation of Dialogue: Symposium on Austrian Turkish Relations
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Onur Ercan, member of the Department of Political Science and International Relations of our faculty, gave a lecture entitled ‘Diplomatic Relations from the Belgrade Peace to the First World War’ at the symposium ‘Collective Memory and the Continuation of Dialogue: Symposium on Austrian Turkish Relations’ organized by the Turkish-Islamic Union for Cultural and Social Cooperation in Austria on 15 November 2024 in Vienna.

Dr. Hamza Polattimur, one of our faculty members from the Department of Economics, participated in the 31st Economics Conference of the Turkish Economic Association (TEA) held in Fethiye between 31.10.2024 - 02.11.2024. Dr. Hamza Polattimur presented the article titled “TV News and Inflation Expectations” that he prepared with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Semih Emre Çekin, one of our faculty members of the Department of Economics.
5th Annual Business Administration Conference: Current Issues in Business Management
The "5th Annual Business Administration Conference: Current Issues in Business Management" was held on October 24-25, 2024, at the Turkish-German University campus. It was organized by Turkish-German University's Department of Business Administration, Business Administration Master’s Program and Doctoral Program, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and sponsored by Siemens Türkiye and DAAD.
Dr. Guido Neidhöfer participated to the Jobs and Development Conference in Cairo on 8-9 October 2024.
He presented his study “Trade Shocks and Social Mobility” in which he analyses the long-run impacts of Chinese import penetration on the education and income of future generations whose parents were negatively affected by the shock.
Dr. Moritz Botts presented a paper developed with Prof. Dr. Yevgen Bogodistov (MCI Innsbruck, Austria) on the use of storytelling and gamification in responsible management education at the 11th Responsible Management Education Research Conference at Berlin School of Business and Innovation, which happened from September 24-26 2024 in Berlin.

Nur Banu Kartal, research assistant at the Department of Economics, participated in the “Berlin Behavioral Economics Workshop” held at ESMT Berlin. The event was organized by the Berlin Behavioral Economics (BBE) Group, which brings together researchers working on behavioral and experimental economics at various Berlin-based economic research institutions.
