Our Faculty Held the 2024-2025 Spring Semester Academic Board Meeting

The 2024-2025 Spring Semester Academic Board Meeting of our faculty was held on June 11, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the School of Foreign Languages. During the meeting, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu provided information about academic and administrative processes. Following a speech by Faculty Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaur Gasimov, faculty members exchanged views to ensure a more productive academic term. The meeting concluded with well wishes for a successful and fruitful 2025-2026 academic year

Selin Karaca Varinlioğlu's Doctoral Success

Selin Karaca Varinlioğlu, a faculty member of the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, has earned her Doctorate degree from the Doctorate Programme in Business Administration at the Institute of Social Sciences at Yıldız Technical University with the thesis titled ‘The Relationship Between CEOs' Impression Management Tactics in Traditional and Digital Communication Channels and Corporate Sustainability Performance.’

The introductory article of the special issue, co-edited by Associate Professor Dr. Ebru Turhan, has been published in German Politics.

The introductory article titled "Germany's Central Role in EU-Turkey Relations and Its Implications for EU Foreign Policy: An Introduction," co-edited by Associate Professor Ebru Turhan, has been published in *German Politics*, the leading SSCI-indexed journal in the field of German Studies. The article was ca-authored by Ebru Turhan, Julie Smith, Funda Tekin and Senem Aydın-Düzgit.

Turkish-German University Scholars Present at the First Spring Meeting of the Turkish Economic Association (SMTEA2025)

The conference, hosted by the Turkish Economic Association (TEA), brought together leading economists and early-career scholars from Türkiye and abroad to engage in discussions on a wide range of topics in economics. Featuring keynote addresses by renowned economists such as Daron Acemoğlu, Ufuk Akçiğit, and Jeffrey D. Sachs, the event offered a vibrant platform for academic exchange.

Workshop on Economic Mobility Unites Young Scholars from Across Istanbul

On May 28, 2025, the Turkish-German University (TGU) hosted a successful workshop on Economic Mobility, organised in close collaboration with Bogazici University, Istanbul University, and ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research Mannheim. The event was made possible with funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Botts and Research Assistant Ömer Hurmacı presented the study “Automated Consumption and Autonomous Consumers – Towards a New Concept of Consumer Agency” (co-authored with Prof. Dr. Ela Sibel Bayrak Meydanoğlu) at the 4th Bielefeld International Conference on Applied Business (BiCAB), held in Bielefeld, Germany.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Turhan participated in Panels and Discussions on the EU Presidency in Warsaw, Poland with the Economic Development Foundation (IKV)

On May 6, 2025, Associate Professor Ebru Turhan, faculty member at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, participated as a panelist in the event titled “EU and Geopolitical Challenges: The Role of EU-Turkey Interaction” organized by the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), the Polish Institute of International Relations (PISM) and the Center for Eastern Studies (OSW) in Warsaw on the occasion of Poland’s EU Presidency, with the participation of academics and experts.

9th International Conference on Gender Studies - Tracing Gender: Exploring History and Shaping the Future

The faculty members of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Turhan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selin Akyüz presented their paper titled “De-constructing Gender and Re-constructing Europe: Populism and Anti-gender Discourse in Germany” at the international conference titled “9th International Conference on Gender Studies - Tracing Gender: Exploring History and Shaping the Future” held at Eastern Mediterranean University on April 3, 2025.

Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security, met with the students of the Political Science and International Relations Department of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of our University on February 28, 2025. The 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Opening Lecture entitled “The Future of Turkey-Germany Relations in the Age of Uncertainty” was held in the YDYO Conference Hall with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Head of the Political Science and International Relations Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enes Bayraklı, our academicians as well as students.

The fourth meeting of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences Brown Bag seminars was held on 07.01.2025.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Turhan held a guest lecture titled “Germany’s Role in EU-Turkey Relations: A Status Quo Power” at the Departmental Seminar of the Institute for Political Science of the University of Tübingen. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Thomas Diez.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevgin Batuk Ünlü, a faculty member of the Department of Business Administration, shared with the audience the study titled “What Goes Around Comes Around: Sentiments of Couriers During Covid-19 Pandemic”, which they conducted with Pınar Özbilen and Alev Özer Torgalöz.

Intergenerational Returns to Migration

At the workshop on Intergenerational Transmission of Inequalities held on December 2-3, 2024, at Católica-Lisbon, Dr. Guido Neidhöfer, representing the Turkish-German University, delivered a presentation titled "Intergenerational Returns to Migration".
